Could Impaired Cerebrospinal Fluid Dynamics Be the Missing Link in Brain Disease—and ME/CFS?

In 2022, I proposed that impaired cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) dynamics might play a central role in ME/CFS . At the time, this idea received little attention. Now, a major new study of more than 45,000 people highlights the importance of the choroid plexus —the brain tissue that produces CSF and regulates immune signaling—as an early predictor of cognitive decline and dementia. The findings don't prove that impaired CSF dynamics cause disease, but they strengthen the case that the brain's fluid circulation and waste-clearance systems deserve far more attention. If the choroid plexus and CSF are compromised, the consequences may extend well beyond dementia and could have implications for other neurological conditions, including ME/CFS.
