Bipolar Disorder: Understanding the Complexity of a Mood Disorder

Bipolar disorder, historically known as manic-depressive illness, is a serious mental health condition characterized by extreme shifts in mood, energy, activity levels, and the ability to carry out day-to-day tasks. These fluctuations range from depressive lows to manic or hypomanic highs. While it is a treatable condition, it can be deeply disruptive without proper management and support. Organic triggers for bipolar disorder include both genetic predisposition and neurological factors.
